_Country Escape

_So as my last post of this decade, and with the weather being so cold and icy I decided to just to take shots of my 'country escape' in the dales (Basically I got a new camera for Christmas. and, thought it was a bit cruel to get Todd to travel all the way up North, so decided to just do it myself). I love it up here, its empty, with just a light scattering of some of my favourite things and people, its the one space I can actually find the time to sit and read, nap in the daytime and evidently, see in the New Year.

2009 was an ace year, so here's to the next one!

_Totally genius Christmas present from my dad - A clock that's been in his garage since I was a kid, that he was given by his dad in the early 70's. He's had it cleaned up a refurbished and I totally love it.

_Currently Watching . . .

_The perfect New Years Eve film 'Gigi' the 1958 classic, Directed by Vincente Minnelli and winner of 9 oscars at the 1959 Academy Awards - Completely stunning musical genius.

_Country Archive I.

_One of my favourite things to do while I'm back in the country is having the time to go through my (other) magazine archive - I have a selection in London (around 2,000) then everything from age nineteen and before is still in the country, so all my Face magazines, 10 years worth of Vogues, plus about 5 years worth of i-D, Sleazenation, Homme+, Arena, POP and Wallpaper* from before I moved to LDN, plus anything else that took my eye (from random fanzines to magazines that didnt run for long ie. the relaunched Nova from the mid nineties) - meaning I have about another 5,000 up here, so plenty of inapiration then! - This was at the top of the pile for some reason, I remember picking it up in NYC 2 years ago and bringing it back here afterwards, but never remembered this great Mert & Marcus and Oliver Rizzo shoot from 'V' SS08 - Check the Ace freakin' hair and soft whiplash stylings.

_I want one, a leather one, ideally pony skin, in black, A4, or just a bit bigger, so I can always carry new issues of magazines with me, and a few old ones... that'd be brilliant.

_'A Single Man'

_The Premier film from Tom Ford. A Single Man is a 2009 American drama film based on the Christopher Isherwood novel of the same name. The film stars Colin Firth as the protagonist George Falconer, a gay British college professor living in Southern California in the 1960s. The production design was done by the same team that created the production sets in Mad Men, which for me, sells the film straight out - I cannot wait.

_Check out this great new 'Cyber-Geek-Fashion-Furturism' magazine 'L_A_N' totally geeky in its features, yet stunning in its conviction. I'm thinking ROMAIN KREMER X THE X-FILES X PIERRE DEBUSSCHERE in print format. And what a cover! - pixelated white noise genius - I look forward to the publication of issue2. from young editor and lead singer of post-pop-punk band Teeth!!! Veronica So.

_On an interiors theme, the new issue of Pin-Up magazine was released just before christmas, and once again it has cemented the fact that I'm slightly in love with its editor Felix Burrichter, for his thoughts and ideas, and completely mesmerized by the work of its young Art Director Dylan Fracareta, who time after time (now on issue 7) he knocks conventional design out of the park. If you can find it anywhere, check it out.

_Hamish's Home

_After seeing those slightly dodgy pictures of Hamish Bowles home in the new Fantastic Man (nothing more than the fact that I'm not sure Jeurgen's style was right for Master Bowles), I was keen to search out real 'interiors shots' of his london home, I have seen his NYC one on quite a few occasions, but never his london pad, I was glad to see it was his classic mix of english eccentricism (along side well chosen pieces of classical furniture) and high fashion glamour.

_Yesterday I went for Betty's afternoon tea with my mom, then found this amazing deco postcard of how Harrogate was publicized in the 1930's and 1940's.

_I've spent alot of the festive season arranging 'grown up' things like morgages and loans and all the rest of that crap thats really scary for someone who's just turned 25. But to make it better I have then spent quite abit of time going through new bits and ideas for not only the house I plan to buy in the next 6 months but also for new years ideas to pitch to the guys at World of Interiors magazine. I hope you find these images as inspiring as I have.
