_Scrittarello

_Castiglioni, one of Italy's most respected design talents, had an outstanding career spanning almost 60 years and left a large legacy of exceptional products when he died in 2002. A long-term collaborator with Maddalena de Padova, he created the allestimento or display and windows for her Milan flagship store yet he designed just three products for the brand's collection. One of these is Scrittarello, a small writing desk made of beech plywood with a white laminate top and solid beech legs.

_Moleskine

_My Life is in this Moleskine - I love it. Its about my 15th in the last 4 years: I have kept them all, and each one is a differing memory of the time it was produced, from my first to final years of my degree, to my first 6 months of working, from ideas, to polatoids, shopping lists to magazine editorlials. I pulled my newest out the other day and a friend remarked how it reminded him of his old school exercise books with all of its high schoolesque stickers look - I liked that.

_Christiane Celle celebrates the expansion of her bookstore chain with an exhibition of Lyle Owerko's portraits of the Samburu. Photography bookstores are rare, even in New York City. That is why Clic Bookstore & Gallery is such a find. Despite the morphing retail landscape along the city’s main shopping districts, the bookstore is expanding to three more locations later this month. Because, even when everything appears to be changing, some things always stay the same – things like good photography, which never seems to go out of style.

Celle, who is married to fashion photographer Antoine Verglas, marks the opening of her three new stores with an opening exhibition of Lyle Owerko’s portraits of the Samburu, a nomadic warrior tribe also known as “The Butterfly People.” A portion of the proceeds from the sales of Owerko’s photos will go towards the Thorn Tree Project, which supports the Sereolipi Nomadic Education Foundation. Owerko’s photography coincides with Celle’s future plans for Clic, which were partly inspired by a recent trip to Kenya.

_I just found these late 90's shots of Asia Argento taken by Terry Richardson and it reminded me how ace she is - Punk as hell, and completely unhinged - Brilliant. The perfect portraits of her by the perfect photographer for her.

_'30 years of Pierre & Gilles' : Pierre et Gilles create dreamy portraits that transport their subjects—as well as the viewers—into an alternate world where camp, pop, burlesque, religion, and eroticism mingle in perfect harmony. Creating the sets themselves, and with Pierre as photographer and Gilles as painter/elaborator, they create one-of-a-kind artworks of an unmistakably original style. A host of stars has passed before their lens, such as Iggy Pop, Madonna, Marc Almond, Nina Hagen, Catherine Deneuve, Laetitia Casta, Marilyn Manson, Mireille Mathieu… though many of their portraits also feature unknowns.

I'm currently watching . . .

_The 1995 classic: "Clueless" on Film4 - A teen favourite - Its SO GOOD.

"Emma, Jane Austen's novel is modernised and given this very accurate title "Clueless." How vapid can one girl be? And how rich too? Or popular!! Cher can be all three things quite easily and still have perfect blonde hair and a manicure. She lives in Beverly Hills and drives a great Jeep, but doesn't exactly have her licence yet... With her best friend, Dionne, whose a sassy plastic too, she's living the high life. Or is she? She is absolutely horrified when her grades drop, but they're only negotiation grades anyway! All the other teachers give her a boost in her grades for extra work, but the stuffy debate teacher, Mr. Hall, isn't bought! As if this isn't totally puke-arific, Cher's smart and hunky ex step brother, Josh, comes to town! He is way too environment orientated for her liking, he listens to "whiney college music" and is a couch commando. A new girl, Tai, comes to school and is quickly made over by Cher and Dionne! But Tai's crush for Elton, a rich kid, is soon stomped on when he says he likes Cher! No worries her heart's mended by a good Christian Slater and ice cream. Cher is then after the pretty boy, Christian, who turns out to be gay!! So much for sending herself chocolates and showing extra skin. Cher also does a match making bit on Mr. Hall and Miss. Geist, soon her debating grades are sky high! Then Tai gets a scare from some guys at a mall, and becomes popular due to her supposed brush with death! Cher is way confused and irated when she pulgs her learners, sees Tai with Josh and starts falling for Josh herself! She then resorts to a make over of her soul and gets involved in charity work and mending the romance between Tai and the skater, Travis. But she soon learns that Josh is madly in love with her! And they kiss on the staircase! Miss. Geist and Mr. Hall get married in a white wedding deluxe. Through all the antics, the heartbreaks and the "whatevers", Cher finds true love and isn't so Clueless anymore!"

_Rankin Live

_If you have ever imagined your portrait adorning the walls of an art gallery, then this summer you might just get your heart’s desire. In August, the notion of instant gratification is being pushed to radical new extremes with the hugely ambitious Rankin Live!, an ever-changing exhibition in which you will get the chance to have your portrait shot, framed and exhibited in record-breaking time.

As the accelerated pace of the digital age reaches full velocity, Rankin is teaming up with Dazed to create the definitive quick-fire “documentary” of what it is to be British today. We are looking for 1,000 people aged 13* and over whose distinctive look and idiosyncratic style will help to create a unique photographic record of Britain in the 21st century. Look sharp and your image could be sharing gallery space with the likes of Kate Moss a mere 15 minutes after Rankin’s shutter has closed.

Today I applied to have my photograph taken. And the sole reason? - I need full documentation of all this hair. Then maybe I can FINALLY bring myself to cut it all off.

_At 29cm x 40.5cm and 666 pages, Tom of Finland XXL contains over 1,000 images, covering six decades of the artist's career. The work was gathered from collections across the US and Europe with the help of the Tom of Finland Foundation, and features many drawings, paintings and sketches never previously reproduced. Other images have only been seen out of context and are presented here in the sequential order Tom intended for full artistic appreciation and erotic impact. This elegant oversized volume showcases the full range of Tom's talent, from sensitive portraits to frank sexual pleasure to tender expressions of love and haunting tributes to young men struck down by AIDS.

Completing this collector's edition are eight specially commissioned essays on Tom's social and personal impact by Camille Paglia, John Waters, Armistead Maupin, Todd Oldham, and others, plus a scholarly analysis of individual drawings by art historian Edward Lucie-Smith. For the man—or woman—who thinks bigger is better, Tom of Finland XXL is certain to satisfy.

_Wrap it, bag it.

Love this shoot for Ponystep.com (?!) - It's one of those things that everyone had thought of doing (The 'recycled shoot' made entirely from binbags), and quite a few have done it, but its very 'A-level Art', However, somehow this really works - I think its the focus on shape, texture and light, and not being affraid to show them for being binbags (bottom) - It looks brilliant.

_Mrs Prada has been throwing her heart and Seoul into the Waist Down exhibition, which is about to open at the new Rem Koolhaus designed Prada Transformer space in Seoul. The Transformer is a groundbreaking temporary building that over the course of the next year will actually rotate and transform three times.

Waist Down is essentially a big collection of skirts from Mrs P's personal archive, dating back as far as 1998. She claims that season on season the skirt persists as an inexhaustible source of inspiration, which is why this exhibition has constantly traveled and evolved, morphing its way across five cities since it opened in Tokyo in 2004.

This time round the show includes extra skirts designed by fashion students from eight design programmes across Seoul, which, according to the organisers means that the show "intergrates internationally acclaimed fashion design with the seeds of creativity sewn in Seoul."
