_The Stunning 1992 film 'Orlando' Starring Tilda Swinton in the Virginia Woolf adaptation.
Young nobleman Orlando is commanded by Queen Elizabeth I to stay forever young. Miraculously, he does just that. The film follows him as he moves through several centuries of history, from Britain to Russia, Morocco to France experiencing a variety of lives and relationships along the way, and even elegantly changing from one sex to another. Sally Potter's adaptation of Virginia Woolf's Orlando not only tells the story on film with brilliant visual design, but also tries to extend the plot as Woolf would have, had she lived to the end of the twentieth century.
The film makes me want to live in 19th cnetury Morocco, draped in silver and emeralds and swathed in linens, with hair bound in embroidery.
